A Year Ago Today

  A Year Ago Today Today marks my first day as a 32 year-old…and also exactly 1 YEAR since leaving the United States!!! So, where are they now? Who are they now? What comes next? And what will Connor’s next hairstyle be? These are the true questions on this episode of… A Year Ago Today.  I know it’s cliche to say, but as usual TIME DOES FLY. We left a year ago from Phoenix the day after celebrating my birthday with my family (eating some delicious Thai food for a send off). It feels like just a month ago we were there and yet an entire year filled with travel has happened in between.  Let’s reflect: Started in Patagonia Chile in April 2025 (their fall time) - very cold and rainy, lived in an old sheep shed, no heating, lots of good hard/physical labor, ate predominately meat for 1 month (shout-out carnivore diet), were on our own for cooking/eating, started our relationship with Yerba mate, and really got to experience the EXACT opposite of our “comfortable” life we were ...

It’s BANANAS!

  It’s BANANAS! We left the beautiful island of Portete and said goodbye to the sweet animals, the walks on the beach, the naps in the hammocks, and finally, the mosquitos. We learned a lot there - about things we want for our future and things we don’t…along with being provided with a lot of time to just be and do the things we want to do. Most importantly, we learned how to assassinate mosquitos - feel free to reach out to Condor for technique and details.  After leaving the beach, we made our way toward the capital of Ecuador, Quito, to explore this area for a week before our next WorkAway. We ended up back at 10,000 feet and in the beautiful Andes, just in a different country. We started at Quilotoa Lake, a massive crater with stunning turquoise waters. We hiked the rim of it all the way around, getting to experience the beauty from all angles.
