Feliz Cumpleaños Mi Amor

 Feliz Cumpleaños Mi Amor!

It has been just about 3 weeks here in our new home. Truly crazy how fast time is going! We have really been enjoying this location - filled with peaceful nature, a slow pace, and plenty of deep contemplation.

Connor celebrated a double golden birthday this past week (33!) and it was such a beautiful day to celebrate him. An amazing  sunrise to start the morning along with our host’s famous, homemade granola for breakfast. We got to go into town to get a little coffee and pastry as well as to get some miscellaneous items from the store. The afternoon was filled with some peaceful time by the river and some delicious pizza. I made a birthday dessert - banana coffee cake - which we enjoyed with a bottle of wine in the evening. All around lovely day!

We are slowly but surely learning a lot here - both in physical tasks but also lifelong practices. The gardening is something we are trying to understand and piece together, since our host seems to follow his own intuition and green thumb rather than any sort of schedule. In true Connor and Abby fashion, we are trying to make processes for everything so that things are efficient and organized. However, we are also aware that this is not always how things work, and especially in different cultures. We are slowly learning the art of watching the plants and being present with the tasks rather than being as quick and efficient as possible.

Other activities/fun thoughts we have been doing the last couple of weeks:

  • I (Abby) painted a sign for the entrance gate!
  • Connor is becoming more and more smitten with Shakti, one of the kitties
  • Jin Jan, one of the horses, is finally letting me pet her and interact more
  • We are learning more about the local plants and their benefits
  • We are prepping and organizing some materials for the construction of the mediation hall (moral of the story is save all materials such as windows, old doors, glass bottles, etc. for building!)
  • Our host speaks mostly in English to us, but there are times when he has friends come to visit and we get to practice in those conversations. Slowly learning the Argentinian accent and some local words/phrases!
  • There are a few creatures out here that we have to pay attention to - thankfully because it is winter there are minimal snakes, but the spiders have been out to play! And these are not your average spider… we are talking tarantula status. There are also some gnarly thorned trees that are giving Connor’s poor hands a run for their money.

Alright all, that’s it! Like I said life is pretty slow moving but we sure are enjoying the peace and serenity that comes from living more remote, with less technology, and more connection with all aspects of nature.

I’ll continue to post as I can! Check out the feature to put your email in if you want a notification for when I post since my posts aren’t as consistent these days - it’s on the left side bar on the blog website. Too much coding for me to figure out how to get it on the main page lol.

Love and miss you all!

Con amor,
