Simple & Sweet Life

Simple & Sweet Life

It’s been over a month since coming here to Argentina and landing in this remote, spiritual oasis. As I’m lying on a rock by the river writing this, I’m lacking the words to explain the time spent here thus far. It feels almost “boring” compared to our time in Chile and all the adventures and craziness I shared with you all. Here is a different kind of learning and community - it is a much more slower pace, more collective, and higher connection. When I think about writing a post, it doesn’t feel like there is a lot to describe and list out. But nevertheless, I want to continue to share my random thoughts and bring everyone who is interested along with us throughout our journey.

The past couple of weeks have been filled with a LOT of gardening - and we are obsessed! We are learning how to seed into the ground, how to create seedlings in containers, how to transplant from containers to the ground, as well as space out plants that are already in the ground so that they have more room to grow. We transplanted both lettuce and carrots (spaced them out in the garden beds) about 1 week ago and we are happy to report that we didn’t kill any of them! It feels like such a small task, but truly it is such a rewarding feeling to see the baby plants grow and witness the whole process. And of course to get to reap the benefits and eat delicious salad and vegetables for lunch every day!

We are learning how to make some new yummy things from our host, especially Indian-style cooking as he spent a lot of time there amongst other countries as a monk. We learned how to make delicious bread, granola, chapati (an Indian bread), Dal, and more! The food is all so amazing, and also maybe a little heavy on the carb front… Connor and I are calling some possible weight gain here the “spiritual six” haha. Overall we are doing okay on the vegetarian diet (stomachs still may be adjusting a bit), with minimal cravings of animals foods. However, we were gifted some eggs by a visitor and had our fill of them the other night. For those of you who really know Connor and my egg consumption, you understand how much these were savored!

Another volunteer arrived from Germany this past week - She has been to this farm and volunteered here in the past and now she’s back! It has been nice to learn from her and connect about our cultures and her own spiritual journey. We have had some visitors come and share their lives with us over the last few days which has been truly inspiring. It is quite remarkable to see what people this farm attracts from the outside world. They seem to all be seeking more nature, connection with themselves and something higher, and a community that is living differently. It seems that Connor and I also have that same desire within us, and maybe that’s what has led us here. As we experienced in Chile, we are still so drawn to a simple and more naturalistic way of living. Making a fire at night to stay warm, heating our water for showers with a solar panel, only charging phones and using electricity during sun/daylight hours, eating things that we have grown, meditating by the river, connecting with and learning from animals, the list goes on and on!

We plan to be here for another 3-4 weeks and then we shall see what the next place brings. We are trusting that it will be the next best place for what we need. Until next time! We love you and miss you all!

Some gardening with our new German friend!

Maria - a neighbor who lives “off the grid” came to chat with us. Not often you get to talk with a complete stranger about life purposes, where humans came from, etc. Quite a beautiful experience!

  1. Muy bien, amigos! So awesome to hear about this peaceful, slower, natural way of living. Please send gardening notes, I’ve nearly killed 2 “indestructible” herbs in the last 3 weeks, so I’m desperate for your newfound expertise. Buen provecho, el pan se ve muy rico.
Los amo y extraño muchísimo 🤍
